John Couch
John is a Managing Director in the San Francisco Goldman Sachs office, having joined the firm in 2001 as a Private Wealth Advisor. In addition to advising clients, John is a member of the firm’s Top Advisors’ Council and Philanthropy Committee. Originally from the Bay Area, John graduated Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude and salutatorian from Middlebury College with a B.A. degree in International Politics & Economics and Chinese. John was a Rhodes Scholar finalist for District 1 in 1998. He later earned a J.D. from Harvard Law School and was a teaching fellow in the Harvard College Department of Economics. John is a member of the State Bar of California. Outside of his professional responsibilities, John has served on the Board and/or volunteered for a number of non-profit organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area that promote educational opportunities for underprivileged youth: The BASIC Fund, 826 National, Building Futures Now and Little Wonders. John lives in Hillsborough with his wife and three children.
