Social Emotional Learning

Our Approach

At Armstrong, we believe how children learn is a as important as what they learn. Additionally, we believe academic success is inextricably linked to building social-emotional competencies. 

We take holistic and systematic approach to social-emotional learning by employing Responsive Classroom principles and techniques to foster more developmentally responsive teaching, engaging academics, effective classroom management, and a positive community. 

"Responsive Classroom is a student-centered, social and emotional learning approach to teaching and discipline. It is comprised of a set of research and evidence-based practices designed to create safe, joyful, and engaging classrooms and school communities for both students and teachers."  (www.responsiveclassroom.org).
