Armstrong’s Middle School Elective Program gives students unique opportunities to tap into their strengths and try new, exciting experiences beyond the core academic day. Designed to be hands-on, creative, exploratory, and skill-building, the program invites students to stretch themselves, follow their curiosity, and uncover new passions.
Students with dyslexia often have remarkable strengths—creativity, spatial awareness, problem-solving, pattern recognition, engineering instincts, non-linear thinking, and so much more. Providing space for these strengths to shine is a critical part of Armstrong’s mission. Our electives allow students to explore interests, build confidence, and express themselves in ways that traditional academics may not always capture.
Over the course of the year, each student takes four different elective classes, with at least one STEAM-focused elective included in every student’s schedule. Many athletes also choose to participate in a school sports team as their elective, deepening teamwork and leadership skills along the way.
Armstrong electives empower students to explore boldly, create proudly, and discover strengths that will carry them forward—in school and in life.
