Movement
Movement facilitates cognition and prepares the brain for optimal learning. At Armstrong, Movement is a multi-faceted class designed specifically for Lower School students. Through intentional, engaging, and brain-based activities, students strengthen both their bodies and minds as they grow as learners. Each class is designed to build confidence and prepare the brain for optimal learning, all while having fun.
The Movement program helps students:
Refine athletic skills; develop coordination and balance
Build physical fitness, mental focus, and emotional well-being
Express themselves creatively through physical storytelling, performing arts, and dance (cultural and thematic).
Prepare the brain for learning by activating BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrphic Factor), and strengthening neuropathways for memory and processing
Experience academic concepts through Action Based Learning™ , a proven method that anchors learning through movement
Strengthen brain-body connection systems—vestibular, proprioceptive, visual, and motor control, that help to support reading, memory, and attention
Foster social-emotional skills through teamwork, collaboration, and play
