Summer Programs 2009

At Charles Armstrong School, our academic program is specifically designed for students with language processing difficulties. During the summer, we provide a morning program that gives students the opportunity to brush up on their skills in a 22 day program focused on reading, writing and mathematics for grades 1-6. Students registered in 7th and 8th grades will focus on high school preparation.  Our summer school classes are offered to our current CAS students, incoming new CAS students for 2009, and students from other schools, which we refer to as outreach students.  Our program gives outreach students who struggle with reading, writing and math skills a chance to benefit from Charles Armstrong School’s unique approach to learning and small group instruction. Assessments are not required for Outreach or current CAS students.

The Summer School faculty is highly skilled in integrating a simultaneous multi-sensory approach to language instruction. Most of our summer school teachers come from Charles Armstrong School as well as a select few from other leading bay area schools.  They understand the students’ unique learning styles and needs and then design a program to meet those needs.

Current CAS students have the option of attending the summer program or they may choose to have 20 hours of tutoring in lieu of summer school. Any student who has been admitted into CAS for fall 2009 or is on the waitlist should register for both the summer school (morning program) and Adventure Camp (afternoon program). Outreach students are also invited to attend our camp program. These three groups of students have specific summer school form requirements
